From Blueprint to Installation
Parks Hospitality Sliding Door
This project began with solid 8/4" Hickory, carefully surfaced and finished to a final thickness of 1-5/8". The tabletop is supported by sleek 4" square steel tubing legs crafted from 1/8" steel, reinforced with matching supports running between each leg and along the underside for strength and stability.
Hidden beneath the surface, a discreet ‘J’ angle flat bar provides clean cable management, keeping the workspace functional and clutter-free. The desk is divided into four equal workstations using custom 1/4" steel picture framing, triangular end caps, and perforated designer steel panels that provide separation without isolating teammates — making collaboration effortless.
Every detail is engineered with purpose, from precision-drilled holes for machine screws to the seamless connection between steel framing and the Hickory top. The result is a structurally sound, one-of-a-kind workstation that blends durability, function, and design.
Finishing
The final stage is all about detail. The Hickory surface is sanded smooth and sealed to highlight its natural grain and warmth, while the steel components receive a durable matte finish that protects against wear and adds a refined, modern look. Every joint, bolt, and edge is checked by hand to ensure both beauty and structural integrity. It’s this careful finishing process that transforms raw materials into a piece that’s not only functional but also a statement of craftsmanship.
Frame Fabrication
The foundation of every custom build starts with the frame, and for the Parks Hospitality Sliding Door, this stage is all about precision and strength. Using heavy-duty 2" x 6" aluminum gate frames, each side, top, and bottom member is cut to exact dimensions, ensuring uniformity across all components. The ends are finished with clean 45-degree cuts so that when assembled, the frame locks together seamlessly and maintains both strength and balance.
Reinforcement comes through precision-cut 1/4" aluminum plates, which are not just added pieces but structural elements engineered to prevent warping and guarantee long-term stability. Square and round holes are drilled into specific locations on the top and bottom members to accommodate hangers, guides, and fastening hardware. These details are planned down to the millimeter in the shop drawings to eliminate errors once fabrication begins.
Every cut, drilled hole, and plate placement is double-checked during this stage, because the frame is more than a skeleton — it’s the backbone that will carry the full weight of the door, guide the planks into place, and support the sliding track system. By the time the frame leaves the fabrication area, it has already undergone the first round of quality checks, setting the stage for reinforcement, assembly, and finishing
