Butcher Block

Style | Woodworking | Stability

A “Butcher Block” panel offers a very different look than a “Classic Cut”, instead of using the face of the lumber as your tabletop, the boards are glued together on their sides, creating an edge grain tabletop

Process

Dimensional lumber is selected, straight-line ripped with clean edges and placed on its side, gluing the faces of the lumber together.

This process creates a wood panel with 'edge grain' as the top and bottom surfaces. The panel is then planed, finish sanded and cut to size, leaving 4 clean edges and a final thickness of any desired measurement.

Due to the unique look and extremely durable panel, a Butcher Block style is very popular with countertops, shelving and other furnishings!
